Before the accident, Joseph was excelling in his career as an Assistant Vice President of Compliance at a major financial institution. But after facing the harsh reality of his new life, he found himself drawn to a new purpose, not just riding again, but helping others do the same.
That’s when he met Pinny Lunger, CEO of Street Riders LLC, a track-based riding organization focused on taking riders off the streets and into a safer, controlled environment. Pinny saw something in Joseph, his determination, his resilience, and his potential to inspire others. What started as an invitation to the track quickly turned into something much bigger: the creation of the Ride Again Foundation.
A New Purpose: Creating the Ride Again Foundation
Leading the Movement for Riders
Today, Joseph is at the forefront of a movement dedicated to giving riders a second chance. Through the Ride Again Foundation, he helps both injured and non-injured riders regain their confidence, rebuild their skills, and reclaim their love for motorcycling. The foundation provides adaptive riding programs, mentorship, and a community of support, ensuring that no rider has to navigate their journey alone.
A Story of Resilience and Second Chances
From Athlete to Survivor
Joseph Forde is the definition of resilience. As Co-Founder, Vice President, and Head of Marketing for the Ride Again Foundation, he has taken unimaginable adversity and transformed it into a movement, one that gives riders a second chance at the freedom they once knew. His story is not just about survival; it’s about redefining limits and proving that even after the hardest falls, there’s always a way forward.
Born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, Joseph was a natural athlete with a deep passion for soccer. It was more than just a sport, it was his identity, his escape, and his greatest love. But on June 23, 2019, everything changed.
After celebrating a close friend’s wedding, Joseph was riding home when a car suddenly merged into his lane. With nowhere to go, his world turned to chaos in an instant. The collision launched him into the guardrails, severing one leg and leaving the other barely attached. His spine and neck were broken, vital organs ruptured, and his body shattered beyond recognition.
Yet, the physical pain was only part of the battle. The real fight was what came after—the loss of mobility, the loss of independence, and the daunting question of what came next. His riding crew, shaken by what had happened, questioned whether they could ever get back on a bike. The life he had built, his passions, his identity—everything felt like it had been ripped away in a single moment. But Joseph refused to let this be the end of his story.
Proving That Nothing Is Impossible
Joseph’s story is proof that even in the face of life-altering tragedy, the road doesn’t end, it just takes a new direction. Through pain, through struggle, through every challenge thrown his way, he continues to ride, lead, and inspire. Because for him, motorcycling isn’t just about the machine, it’s about freedom, resilience, and proving that nothing is impossible.
